Kurt J. Young Jr., Charles Pobee-Mensah, and Karen L. Allison Join RRD

We are pleased to welcome Kurt J. Young Jr., Charles Pobee-Mensah, and Karen L. Allison, to our team of talented associates.

Kurt J. Young Jr.: Kurt Young, Jr., joined our Hartford office and practices primarily in the defense of personal and commercial motor vehicle cases.

Prior to joining the firm, Kurt spent two plus years practicing motor vehicle defense with a firm in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Kurt started his legal career as a temporary assistant clerk for the New London Superior Court. While in law school he interned with various State Attorney’s Offices and the United States Coast Guard Academy.

Kurt is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, Massachusetts Bar Association and the Fairfield County Bar Association. He lives in Bozrah, Connecticut. In his free time Kurt enjoys directing high school and national fencing.

Charles Pobee-Mensah: Charles graduated from Union College in 2013 with a Bachelor of the Arts in Political Science and a double minor in Philosophy and Law & the Humanities. He attended law school at Quinnipiac University School of Law, where he graduated Cum Laude and received a certificate in Health Law, with honors, in 2018.

During his time at Quinnipiac, Charles served as business editor for the Quinnipiac Health Law Journal, president of the Black Law Students Association (BLSA), and as a research assistant. Charles also interned at Yale New Haven Health System, the Connecticut Department of Public Health and two Connecticut law firms.

While at Quinnipiac, Charles received the Crawford Black Bar Association Prize, Superior Classroom Performance Award, Service to the Law School Award, and Distinguished Academic Achievement Award in his Health Information Privacy class.

Prior to joining the firm, Charles worked as a Temporary Assistant Clerk at the Superior Court at Meriden.

 Karen L. Allison: Karen L. Allison is an attorney in the firm’s professional malpractice department. Karen returns to private practice after eight years as Assistant General Counsel at a Fortune 500 manufacturing company where she was responsible for all US-based litigation. Karen’s private practice and in-house experience includes defense of professional malpractice, business torts, product liability, premise liability, personal injury, toxic torts and contract disputes.   She has experience litigating matters to trial in Federal and State courts, as well as, resolving matters through alternative dispute resolution including mediation and arbitration.   Karen practiced in Colorado before relocating to Connecticut. 

Karen graduated, cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center.  She received her undergraduate degree in political science from the University of California, Santa Barbara, with high honors.  

Karen lives in Stamford, Connecticut with her husband and twin daughters.  She is an active volunteer in the community serving in various board positions in school and community organizations.
