Ryan Ryan Deluca LLP (RRD) is pleased to announce that Jonathan C. Zellner has been named partner in the firm.

Attorney Zellner has been with RRD since 2011, focusing his practice primarily in the areas of municipal liability, land use litigation, appellate practice and legal malpractice. He has practiced in state and federal court, argued dispositive motions before various judges of the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut, and argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Today we celebrated Pride month and Juneteenth with a firm-wide event and charitable collection effort.

On April 19, 2021, Attorneys Michael Ryan and Jonathan Zellner obtained judgment for a municipal client in an action for breach of contract brought by a former employee of the municipality. The plaintiff worked for the municipality for the better part of thirty years and retired in the early 2000’s pursuant to a written separation agreement. In accordance with the separation agreement, the plaintiff began receiving monthly benefits under the defendant’s pension plan several months after he retired.

Connecticut State Court Jury Trials now set to resume as of June 1st.

Ryan Ryan Deluca LLP was proud to host the Quinnipiac University School of Law (QUSL) Mock Trial Society over the weekend in our Bridgeport Office for their online mock trial competition. This year AAJ’s mock trial fact pattern involved a car accident in which a car collided with a motorcycle, requiring the student advocates to litigate the liability portion of the trial before three judges.

On November 6, 2020, Attorneys Michael Ryan and Jonathan Zellner obtained summary judgment on the basis of governmental immunity in a lawsuit arising out of a trip-and-fall accident at a municipal transfer station.  The plaintiff allegedly tripped and fell over a traffic cone while disposing of solid waste at the transfer station, suffering injury.  She thereafter sued the municipality, claiming that it was negligent in the placement of the traffic cone.

On December 7, 2020, Attorneys Michael Ryan and Jonathan Zellner obtained summary judgment in a federal lawsuit by a property owner who claimed that municipal officials engaged in a taking of his property, in violation of the Fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution.

On February 1, 2021, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit affirmed the granting of a motion for summary judgment which Attorneys Michael Ryan and Jonathan Zellner obtained in a vexatious litigation lawsuit against their client, a local attorney.  Attorneys Ryan and Zellner represented the attorney, who had previously represented two brothers in litigation against a third brother arising out of the brother’s alleged mishandling of the finances and assets of their late father’s estate.  Following a judgment in favor of the attorney’s clients in that action, the
