Former RRD Attorney Wins Appeal on Dismissal of Case

The Connecticut Appellate Court recently published an opinion in the case of Jamie Pronovost v. Marisa Tierney, affirming a Superior Court decision granting a motion to dismiss filed by former RRD Associate. The underlying claim involved a motor vehicle accident in Maryland involving two drivers, the Connecticut resident plaintiff and Maryland resident defendant. The plaintiff brought a lawsuit in Connecticut stemming from the accident despite the fact that the out-of-state defendant had no connection to the state of Connecticut.

Chuck Deluca has been invited to join the International Academy of Trial Lawyers

RRD Partner Jim Noonan Speaks at Presentation for the Connecticut Defense Lawyers Association

On Thursday, March 31, 2017 RRD Partner Jim Noonan was a speaker on a panel presentation for the Connecticut Defense Lawyers Association (CDLA) entitled Common Pitfalls and Mistakes in Litigation.  The presentation covered such issues as litigation deadlines, mediations and arbitrations, common litigation liens including Medicare, Medicaid and state liens, opening statements and use of exhibits during trial.  Jim is currently on the Executive Committee of the CDLA serving as the organization Secretary.  In June 2017 Jim will be installed as the Second Vice President. 

John F. Costa Obtains Defense Verdict for Orthopedic Surgeon, March 2017

On March 30, 2017, a Stamford jury returned a defense verdict in just under 45 minutes in favor of a local orthopedic surgeon.  Plaintiff claimed that the defendant severed her left median nerve during the course of endoscopic carpal tunnel release surgery for severe carpal tunnel syndrome. She claimed that she had worsening pain and numbness in the postoperative period despite contemporaneous office notes to the contrary.
