On August 22, 2017, Ryan Ryan Deluca LLP partners Bob Hickey and Beck Fineman teamed up to obtain a full defense verdict in the matter of Omar Colon and Arlene Davis vs. Metro-North Commuter Railroad and Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

Partner Robert C. E. Laney appears on the list for the first time this year in the practice area of Legal Malpractice Law – Defendants in Stamford, CT.

The Connecticut Appellate Court recently published an opinion in the case of Jamie Pronovost v. Marisa Tierney, affirming a Superior Court decision granting a motion to dismiss filed by former RRD Associate. The underlying claim involved a motor vehicle accident in Maryland involving two drivers, the Connecticut resident plaintiff and Maryland resident defendant. The plaintiff brought a lawsuit in Connecticut stemming from the accident despite the fact that the out-of-state defendant had no connection to the state of Connecticut.

Ryan Ryan Deluca is pleased to announce that Chuck Deluca has been invited to join the International Academy of Trial Lawyers.  Membership in the Academy is limited to 500 lawyers in the United States.  The standards for admission to the Academy are high and the nomination process is intensive and thorough.  Only trial lawyers with outstanding skills and extensive experience, unimpeachable personal and professional character are considered for Fellowship by the Academy.

On Thursday, March 31, 2017 RRD Partner Jim Noonan was a speaker on a panel presentation for the Connecticut Defense Lawyers Association (CDLA) entitled Common Pitfalls and Mistakes in Litigation.  The presentation covered such issues as litigation deadlines, mediations and arbitrations, common litigation liens including Medicare, Medicaid and state liens, opening statements and use of exhibits during trial.  Jim is currently on the Executive Committee of the CDLA serving as the organization Secretary.  In June 2017 Jim will be installed as the Second Vice President. 

On March 30, 2017, a Stamford jury returned a defense verdict in just under 45 minutes in favor of a local orthopedic surgeon.  Plaintiff claimed that the defendant severed her left median nerve during the course of endoscopic carpal tunnel release surgery for severe carpal tunnel syndrome. She claimed that she had worsening pain and numbness in the postoperative period despite contemporaneous office notes to the contrary.

The firm will expand its Fairfield County presence with a new office at 1000 Lafayette Blvd. in Bridgeport, announced Colliers International Group Inc. (NASDAQ:CIGI, TSX:CIG). At the same time, the 50-year-old practice has renewed its long-time headquarters lease at 707 Summer St. in Stamford.

RRD Partner John F. Costa spoke at the conference of the Connecticut Society of Eye Physicians held on January 13, 2017. The presentation addressed new pitfalls for physicians in the age of electronic health care records.
