RRD partner Rob Laney obtained a summary judgment in favor of his client, a local criminal defense lawyer, in a legal malpractice case based on an alleged failure to adequately confirm specific terms of a plea agreement. The plaintiff had been charged with sexual misconduct with a minor, punishable by up to 20 years' imprisonment. RRD's client negotiated a plea agreement during jury selection in the criminal trial pursuant to which the plaintiff pled no contest to a misdemeanor charge and completely avoided imprisonment.

For the second year in a row, RRD has been identified as one of the top medical malpractice and personal injury defense firms in Connecticut as listed in the 2011-2012 "Best Law Firms" rankings released this month by the publishers of U.S. News & World Report and The Best Lawyers in America.

The national first-tier rankings will be featured in U.S. News & World Report's Money issue, on newsstands November 15, 2011.

Second Circuit Affirms Judgment of Dismissal

RRD partner Rob Laney successfully defended a lawsuit brought against the former vice president of corporate finance and in-house counsel alleging fraud, misrepresentation and breach of fiduciary duty and seeking the return of a $4 million investment together will millions more in interest and penalties. 

2011 Super Lawyers® Business Edition magazine has named Ryan Ryan Deluca LLP the top mid-size litigation law firm in Connecticut.

The firm was chosen based on the number of firm attorneys who have been selected to the Super Lawyers list in business practice areas, as well as a combination of metrics indicating the quality of those attorneys. Quality factors that were considered included the number of years selected to the list, inclusion on a top list and the average blue ribbon panel score.

Partner Charles Deluca will be a speaker at the upcoming Connecticut Event for the Council on Litigation Management on September 14 in Hartford, CT. He will be discussing the state’s new e-discovery rules. Chuck recently chaired the discovery subcommittee of the Civil Commission and authored the e-discovery rules for the State of Connecticut.
