Beck S. Fineman named "New Leader in the Law" by Connecticut Law Tribune

Ryan Ryan Deluca proudly congratulates Beck S. Fineman for being recognized by Connecticut Law Tribune as a “New Leader in the Law” for 2013.  This award seeks to honor individuals who have made significant achievements to the legal profession and distinguish them from their peers.  Beck was among 60 distinguished attorneys who received this award, each of them under the age of 40.  He, along with all the honorees, was published in the Law Tribune’s special edition, New Leaders in the Law 2013 yearbook, and was honored at an awards dinner on November 7, 2013.

RRD Volunteer Corps Teams Up with Person-to-Person (P2P) in Darien, CT

The RRD Volunteer Corps recently helped our neighbors at Person-to-Person (P2P) in Darien sort through a mountain of clothing donations the organization had received.  We were very happy to be able to create a welcoming experience for P2P’s clients showing up to pick out clothing for their household.  This experience was so great, the RRD Volunteer Corps has decided to make it a regular commitment.  We will be participating in P2P’s Monday volunteer nights on a monthly basis.  In the meantime, the RRD Volunteer Corps already is gearing up for its next event, when we will

RRD Wins Supreme Court Reversal Reinstating Defense Verdict in Malpractice Case and Announces New Rule Regarding Jurors’ Exposure to Media

In a case argued by RRD partner Rob Laney, the Connecticut Supreme Court recently reversed an Appellate Court ruling and reinstated a defense verdict obtained by Ryan Ryan Deluca on behalf of a psychiatric hospital in a case arising out of a suicide by a patient.  The case is notable because as part of its ruling the Supreme Court issued a new rule governing jury selection in all trial courts in the state of Connecticut.

Plaintiff is a woman then in her 30’s who had been taking Xanax for panic attacks and anxiety disorder, prescribed by her internist.  She discovered she was pregnant and the doctor advised her to stop taking the Xanax without tapering her off the medication because she was already 5 weeks pregnant at the time she advised her internist. She saw her internist four days later complaining of symptoms she attributed to withdrawal but the internist thought the symptoms were more consistent with rebound anxiety.

RRD Volunteer Corps plants vegetable garden for DOMUS, Inc.

On June 2, 2013, RRD attorneys, staff and family planted a vegetable garden at a residential facility for boys ages 16-21, run by a local nonprofit organization, DOMUS, Inc., which helps underprivileged children and their families achieve academic and life success.    We will be returning to the house soon to teach the boys how to tend to the garden and harvest their own vegetables to include in the meals they prepare for themselves.  Ryan Ryan Deluca’s “RRD Volunteer Corps” is gaining traction and looks forward to continuing to give back to our local communities.

Rob Laney Wins Summary Judgment in Legal Malpractice Case

Ryan Ryan Deluca attorney Rob Laney recently obtained a summary judgment in favor of their client, an attorney, in connection with a lawsuit brought against him by a former client.  The former client and her son had retained RRD’s client to pursue civil rights claims and other causes of action against a local municipality arising out of alleged police harassment and misconduct.  That lawsuit was unsuccessful, and the plaintiffs then filed a 15-count complaint against their former lawyer and others asserting theories of recovery including professional negligence, fraud, unfair trad
